Trine University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Preferred Partnership

Trine University will reserve two seats in each entering class of its Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program for qualified students of Kalamazoo College. Students meeting the below criteria must submit complete applications for admission through the PTCAS system prior to November 1st of each year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a BA from Kalamazoo College prior to matriculation into the DPT program
  • Applicants must complete the following pre-requisite courses with no grade lower than C:
    • Two courses in biological sciences (BIOL 112 and BIOL 123)
    • One course in human anatomy with lab*
    • One course in human physiology with lab (BIOL 376)
    • Two courses in general chemistry with lab (CHEM 110 and CHEM 120)
    • Two courses in general physics with lab (PHYS 150 and PHYS 152)
    • One course in psychology
    • One course in statistics
  • Applicants must have a minimum overall 3.5 or higher GPA
  • Applicants must have completed 40 hours of documented PT patient care observation (Clinical Observation Verification Form)
  • Applicants must submit a Notification of PTCAS Application form to Careers in Health and Medicine Office and Trine University DPT program
  • Applicants must participate in the Trine University DPT program interview process

*BIOL 222 does not meet the admissions criteria for the DPT program at Trine University. You may take this course at Western Michigan University under our inter-institutional enrollment arrangement. Please contact the Registrar’s office a K College for the policy, procedure, and forms. This is done on a space-available basis so plan ahead and make your arrangements early. The cost is included in your K tuition and the grades will appear on your K transcript and be calculated into your K GPA.

Selection

Qualified applicants will be ranked first according to overall GPA and then by their GPA for the above-listed pre-requisite courses.

Offers of admission will be sent to the two highest ranked applicants no later than December 15th.

Acceptance

Students wishing to accept the offer of admission must submit a non-refundable deposit of $1000.00, postmarked no later than January 15th.
