Detroit Mercy’s MEAGN Program

Considering a career in health care? Ever think about earning a Master of Science in Nursing while studying to become a Registered Nurse! The Master’s Entry Advanced Generalist Nursing (MEAGN) program at Detroit Mercy’s is a unique course of study that gives students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree this opportunity.  The MSN provides the graduate opportunities for excellence at the bedside, facilitates a career in health care leadership, and accelerates entry into advanced practice through certificate or Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.


In just four and a half semesters – less than 17 months – graduates of the Master’s Entry Advanced Generalist Nursing program qualify to be a registered nurse and earn a Master of Science degree in Nursing. Our website provides helpful information including the “Admission Criteria”, prerequisite courses, and the application process.

Cancer-focused Summer Undergraduate Research (CanSUR)

The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center is accepting applications for the new Cancer-focused Summer Undergraduate Research Program (CanSUR). This program
offers a unique, immersive experience that will help prepare highly motivated undergraduates for a career in cancer research.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

  • Hands-on mentored cancer research experience including project development, execution, interpretation, and reporting of results.
  • Week-long “cancer research bootcamp” devoted to interactive cancer research lectures.
  • Weekly lunches organized around scientific and career enhancement topics.
  • Dinner with fellow students, scholars and residents to learn about diverse cancer career opportunities.
  • Presentation of final research project findings at CanSUR Scholar Symposium.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Each summer CanSUR will support 32 undergraduates for a 10-week period (June through August) .
  • Undergraduates from across the country are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to work with one of 60 research experts from the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.
  • Scholars will receive a stipend of $4,000 for the summer. Additional housing and travel allowances are available for select participants.

MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine’s ESP

The College of Veterinary Medicine offers a free three week summer program focused on academic advancement and career knowledge for undergraduate students who intend to pursue a DVM for students from underrepresented backgrounds and Michigan residents. 

In summer 2022, the program will be hosted virtually during week 1 (June 6-10) and in person for weeks 2 (June 13-17) and 3 (June 20-24).

Ever considered a career as a Genetic Counselor. Not sure what they do?

Join current genetic counselors from across Michigan for an informational meeting to explore the profession, learn about the pathway to become a genetic counselor, and discuss real-life clinical cases on Thursday, Nov. 4th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM EST!

Genetic counseling gives you information about how genetic conditions might affect you or your family. The genetic counselor or other healthcare professional will collect your personal and family health history. They can use this information to determine how likely it is that you or your family member has a genetic condition. Based on this information, the genetic counselor can help you decide whether a genetic test might be right for you or your relative.
